Time to name that bantam breed

Whatcha think? My daughter picked out her new bantams and they look to me very similar to our first batch. Sadly, there is only one remaining of those. Their feathering is coming in so they are scraggly at the moment. These are the Friday the 13th gang, named after the band Black veil Brides...

I know I have seen a post like this somewhere in my computer but dang if I can find it again. Please help. For those who sell their eggs to customers, do you put a note in the cartons about your eggs and how to handle them safely? What does yours say? I feel the need to do this and wonder...

All 5 of our Silver Leghorns are missing quite a few feathers on their back right before the tail. My question is: Why would it be only one of my several breeds in a flock of 28 hens 2 roos? What am I missing?

    New nesting boxes are here.

Look what came today!!! Thanks to @brounii 's old post, this is what I chose. Tool bins from Lowe's. My son tacked the top ones to the wall for stability and ease of cleaning. A perfect fit and the girls already jumped in to check them out. More pics when I kick that dang rooster outside...

    Today is the Day!

*disclaimer I was given permission to post this* Because I think many have no idea this is happening, I decided to merge my social media today. Most have no idea of the reality of a slow lane for internet. Do your research people. Team Cable has no right to do this to us. This is on my...

Who knew I would be able to keep over 2 dozen chickens of various breeds alive and thriving?!?! We just finished retagging our flock with colored zipties and doing health check at same time. I swear I was going to struggle but I am so happy to say I'm really not. If I can do this, anyone can...

Well, that is one way to move a chicken run

So, I was having trouble figuring out how to lay mesh between coop and run since it had quite a gap underneath the actual coop and was NOT secure in the least. It probably isn't its final resting spot on the property so I wanted it to be flexible. (too much sun) So I hooked up a come-along to...

Pop Doors, What would you change?

I am fighting with my guillotine pop door. It won't move in the track without getting stuck and we are almost ready for chicks to live in the coop. My hubby bought a ready made coop and no changes were made so it came this way. I can't even get it open half the time. I know I have to keep them...

Couple of questions about roof vent and hardware cloth

This is my coop with a white plastic roof vent. Should I put hardware cloth inside or do I need to cover the roof side too? Hubby says raccoons can rip that vent right off. hmmm. I also have 3 windows on opposite side and another hardware cloth door behind outer door for ventilation.

I was cleaning out the brooder, freshening things up a bit as water is still being spilled and still waiting to get the nipple waterers going. I gathered up the chicks to put in a mini brooder (tote) and realized some want elevator rides out. They jump on my hand as I am removing their feeder...

It was supposed to go well.

I put the 5 week old chicks in the gazebo for their first outing today, and BAM! before I could react Princess Mica (otherwise known as Stone Cold Killer snaked one out of the wire. I mean I was right there. It was Carl, and yes, he was a Roo. My only saving grace with Trena is he would...
