Here are a few cool things to try with your eggs:
*Put the egg in a jar full of normal vinegar for a few days. The vinegar will dissolve the shell and the membrane will be all that is left holding the egg togather. Also if you take the egg out of the vinegar and leave it sit for a day or so it...
I have one that is acting kinda slow and not drinking very much. It also shakes it's head frequently but it can't be ear infection from the water cause' it can't get it's head that deep in the water. It doesn't keep it's eyes wide open. The other one in the cage looks fine. Any ideas on what is...
My two 2 month olds now have a 3 story deluxe outdoor home otherwise known as a ferret cage. Yard sale special. They don't seem to have any problem climbing up the ramps. We will see how long it takes them to outgrow the holes that they have to go thru to get to the ramp. Just goes to show...
I have never done this before but have heard that it can be done. I just was wondering how? Is it humane? Are there different ways?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Hi all,
We have thought about getting ducks for the last year but have not made the move. Our (country) neighbor finally convinced us into it and has a broody on a nest full of
Kaki Camball duck eggs (or however you spell that).
Any and all info on raising ducks would be appreciated.
We are...
I am trying to recreate the partridge Brahma from scratch. I currently have available for breeding 2 roosters partridge rock/light Brahma cross. I no longer have that light Brahma roo but I do have other girls for his lines. I also have buff Brahma's of another line both hens and rooster.I have...
I don't do it fully but as a half and half occasionally saves on the load.
Of course I do it in 2 separate containers.
I wondered if anyone else does this?
My local co-op sells Pen Pals game bird feed.I got the chick crumbles for my chicks but what should I get for them now? Through the summer my 2 hens and 1 roo have been getting free range, scratch, and a teeny bit of egg layer mash.I know this is not an ideal setup but they have nice tails.
At...
Why do you only have that thing if you go to the bottom of the index?
It would be easier to get to if it was there all the time like the jump to thing.
Just wondering.
We are considering getting a bird feeder for wild birds over the winter.
Our chickens are free range so how likely is it that this will effect them?
We would put it on a high post BUT it will have to be screen bottomed so it can clean out the manure when it rains and not let it sit. It is not...
OK it's so simple.
Gather acorns and hammer them open. My birds LOVE them.
To save them for winter microwave them on a paper towel for 7 min.
If you want to save just the good part you can take them out of the shells.
Some of my Buff Orphingtons have a little bit of brown on their tails.
Does anyone know if this is a defect or a disqualification?
I would like to know as we recently got the coop so that we can breed pure-breed chickens and I need to know if it would be better to hatch and/or sell eggs from...
I recently heard about partridge Brahmas and figured I need them... OK really want.
After all why not we already have dark, buff, and light ?
So I wondered couldn't I breed it from what I have?? (I also have partridge rocks).
I am relatively new to the breeding part of things ( we just got the...
Hey this is a really odd question so please bear with me.
I recently read that feeding hens dyed food makes their eggs have dyed yolks. (I would of course never do this to my flock for health reasons.)
But after reading about temporarily dyeing chicks with food coloring I couldn't...

Would appriciate any suggestions that you have. I will be doing showmanship.
