My boy had a nasty foot infection last tear. I bandaged, dressed, cleaned gave antibiotics, etc for about 4 mos. He stayed in the spare bathroom for about 3 months, but since it wasn't getting better, and he wasn't using it, I let him stay with the girls and would bring him in for bandage...
I just found out that my 76 yr old mom has been sending $$ to some shmoe in Jamaica! This is the same guy who told her 3 months ago (via cell phone call) that she had won a new Mercedes and $1.3 million! I googled the Mercedes scam and printed out the results, showing her that it is...
She's been bloated and extremely uncomfortable for 5 days now. The vet came out and didn't know why (no diet changes). He said she was old and her rumen isn't working right, most likely. I called again day before yesterday - I asked if simithicone would help, and he said to go ahead and try...
I just read that some group wants to eliminate the use of the word "pet" and start using "companion animal" instead, because the word pet is degrading. Really? I always thought "pet" was an endearing term . Don't the British call their favorite people pets? When I call my dogs back to me...
Mine are about a month old, and have moved to their outdoor space (where they are quite happy, I might add).
How old should they be before getting adult poultry food?
Thanks!
The last clutch had a mom, so I haven't dealt with this in years. We have 2 rouens and 3 runners, all about 3 weeks old. They're getting big and more and more messy, and I'm ready, but are they? They still have fuzz, but don't stay under the heat lamp anymore (for the last 2 days). It gets...
She's leaving in 20 days. Her best friend will be there for something related to school (wildlife biology), so DH is going to fly out there for a week. Anyone been there? Anything in particular she should prepare for?
btw - she's 20 yrs old.
Thanks in advance!
join facebook. Luckily, the only computer I have access to is at work, so it can't take up too much of my time! But WHO are these people who want to be "friends"? I've never heard of many of them - one request was from someone in Russia - What the?
The day before yesterday my 1 yr old cocker/terrier mix, Solomon, got out of the yard at work and licked up a bunch of grease from under the smoker (meat grease with spicy rub). I didn't know he had eaten that until he threw up in the car (which was very special ). He felt better after that...
I've been wanting to start this thread for awhile.
I absolutely love the way my terrier/cocker mix, Solomon, wags his tail back and forth with such exhuberance that he has dents in his fur on both sides of his hips! He'll just be standing, looking around at stuff, with his tail in full swing...
Yesterday we found one of our 2 ducks dead under a bush. She was fine the day before - good weight, normal behavior, no hint of any impending doom. No sign of any injury, blood, nothing . We only have one other duck, and she seems pretty upset. What a bummer!
and I don't have an incubator! My broody banty (chicken) gave up sitting on nothing, so now she's out w/the rest of the chickens. Is it possible to incubate using a heating pad, or is that too dangerous to have on that long, and too hard to control temp/humidity? Should I just give up on the...
and I don't have an incubator! What temp do they need for incubation? Can a heating pad work, or is that too dangerous to have on for the 31 days it takes?
I DID have a setting banty hen (chicken), but I guess she got over it - now she's out with the rest of the chickens. Any ideas, or should...
We have 2 plain old mixed ducks (females, no longer laying), and I've always loved the way runners run around, so I want to get a couple this year. We have 2 fenced in acres, and a GP, plus 3 other dogs that watch the property, so they can free range. Are runners any different than waddling...
Try to imagine...(since I can't seem to get the photo out of my e-mail ): Top of rooster's foot, from where the toes meet the top of it's foot to where the foot bends/meets the leg, about the size of a quarter, is all black, as if it had frostbite, but it never did. Once, when he struggled...
Our only rabbit has been tentatively diagnosed with pasteurellosis (snuffles), and is being sent home with medication. If this is the case, she's showing signs of it affecting her neurologically (sideways head, lack of balance), not so much with the snuffy/snotty nose. Anyone with any success...
