    Lancaster, CA easter egger rooster

Hi all, I have a 27 week old all white Easter Egger roo. Green legs, yellow skin. He is crowing and mating and I've seen the eggs, he's fertile. He's also making our neighbors nuts so he's got to go. I'd like to give him to someone who wants a rooster, otherwise the way he's going is on the...

Photos from a Game Bird show I attended

I saw a flyer for this, held at my local feed store, but I didn't realize it was game birds until I was actually there. The flyer was a bit hard to figure out. Anyway, I took a few photos of these beautiful birds and thought I'd share! This one is my favorite! These are a pair...

    Chick sexing question, probably goofy....

I am looking at getting some day to week old Easter Eggers and Silver Wyandottes in February. Is there anyway to reliably sex them at this age? I am getting them from a local ranch. Thank you!

    2013 Calendar and Cookbook set

I just wanted to say that I received my set yesterday and I LOVE IT! The calendar is lovely and I am really looking forward to settling down with the cookbook (totally did not expect it to be as extensive as it is!). And the shipping was super quick! So, thank you!!

*sigh* 2 Cuckoo Marans Cockerals anyone? Los Angeles high desert area....

Unfortunately, since we aren't allowed to have roosters and try as I might I can't turn these two into pullets, I have 2 Cuckoo Marans cockerals that need new homes. They're 18 weeks old.

    Cockadoodledoo x2 *grrr*

Well, it turns out that everyone here ( and my initial worry) was correct: I have two Cuckoo Marans roosters! I took them back to the ranch I bought them from when they were 9 weeks old ( they take roosters back. They don't refund your money, but they take them back). They did physical exams on...

    "Scratch and Peck" brand feed?

I found this brand on Amazon. They have layer feed, chick starter, etc. Has anyone tried them? It seems it might be good for fermenting, but I don't know. Just wondering what any one thought? I haven't seen it at the feed store where I normally get their feed.

Possibly sick chicken... I'm freaking out a little here!

Ok, what I know about chickens could fit in a thimble so if someone would mind taking the time and indulging my freakoutedness, I'd really appreciate it! Fiona is 17 weeks old and one of my biggest girls. (New Hampshire). This morning she didn't come out of the coop with everyone else, and...

    When to start providing grit?

I have 12 week old chicks still eating chick starter crumbles. However they also eat all manner of treats (kale and green apple are their favorite non-worm and grub food!) and scratch. They peck and scratch and eat off the ground in the run, so I know they're getting dirt particles and (I'm...

Please forgive this naive question....NOW WITH PHOTOS (finally)

Is there an age where I might expect roosters, if I have them, to start crowing? I have 4 nine-week old Cuckoo Marans (one, possibly two, of whom I am freaking out about maybe being roosters as roosters aren't allowed in my town) and 4 nine-week old New Hampshire Reds. So far, every single...

    Newbie here!

In both senses of the word: new to the forum and new to raising chickens. We had RIRs and Plymouth Rocks when I was growing up, so I have a little experience, but I didn't do much with them other than gathering the eggs and running from the roosters. We bought eight 7 week old chicks two weeks...
