A few years ago I purchased some Ameraucana chickens from John Blem from Birch Run, Michigan. I have one on his line left and would love to get some more. They were the BEST laying chickens! Has anyone heard of John Blem of Birch Run and know how to contact him???
i just set ten Buckeye eggs under a heritage Buckeye hen. I have three hens that went broody. I have her in her own suite next to the other chickens. The power went off last night. Didn’t bother her a bit.
What is the major drawback of feeding a lot of corn to hens? I been picking up corn in my fields after harvest. I am getting what the combine missed. I have a lot. My hens are pigs with the laying mash.
I have to stay out of Tractor Supply. I went in to buy laying crumbles and bought six bantams for my wife. I already have nine chicks that I hatched out and have five more eggs under a Cochin. Insanity rules.
I have a little black Cochin chicken hatched this morning and three other eggs pipped. Twenty-five eggs total in the incubator. This is why I like spring, new life.
I just hatched out two black chickens with white dots on their heads. I know this is a way to tell the sex of the chick, but can't remember which way it goes. I believe they call them sex links.
What is the smallest bantam breed? I bought some from Tractor supply this spring and the little pullet looks like a sparrow. The roosters are really small too.
I have bad luck with my incubator hatching chicks. One out of twelve eggs. Lone chick called Chirpy. I tried to get it some buddies at Farm and Home, because they had some last year at this time, but no luck this year.
I had a Cochin that wanted to set, so I set a test hatch of four eggs under her. Hatched two out yesterday one pure Delaware and one Delaware and Easter egger that has a black strip on its back and one on its head. Looks different. I hope they are not roosters.
