I believe this will be my last post here, at least for a while. Wow, it’s already April! It’s been too difficult to get good shots of the Little 5, so I just took what I could of the group, and then brought them aside to get their own personal photos.
The final result, if I didn’t say, was in...
I think it’s been long enough 😂 Here’s some more videos of the ducks from the past 2 weeks.
I’m very happy to see all the ducks and ducklings are getting along! They’re all one big, happy flock now ☺️ I still want to try getting a photo shoot of the Little 5, but it may be a little difficult...
Of course! They are alpacas :) Llamas are very similar, but an emu is a bird, so not sure what you mean haha
I would say “yes” about Coconut being a drake, and I still think so, but the boy has been peep-honking all day 🤣 No actual quacking, still whistles, but also peep-honking, for some reason..
Right? I think I’ve decided on naming her Spice!
They are pretty much the same size now, yeah, although the adults are a bit chunkier 🤣
Alpacas are pickier than ducks - you’d need at least 3!!
Thank you! I’m expecting a few more in the coming weeks / months :)
Alright, here’s some photos of everyone, plus a video at the end! :p
I don’t have a ton of pictures this week, as I had a new friend join the farm (see the video below ;) ). However, you can see the Little 5 are really starting to get their adult plumage! It looks like, out of all 10, we have 4...
Yes he will! :D Lucky ducky.
I would if I could! I was originally going to give the boys to one of my neighbors, but he has chickens, and doesn’t want to build a separate area for the ducks, so.. a different home it is! Thankfully, I was able to re-home 5 drakes from my first batch...
Uhm, 8 of them 🤣 Unfortunately, I think I’ll be rehoming Coconut and Coffee, leaving me with 9 girls and 2 boys - very nice ratio. I’ll make sure they both go to good homes.
Thank you so much! :hugs
All 4 of the girls in the Big 5 have been quacking extremely loud haha, they’re almost...
I did a “photo shoot” earlier this morning with the Big 5 ☺️ My adults stopped by as well towards the end. I’ll be taking photos like this of the Little 5 in a few weeks once they’re a bit older and have more of their adult plumage.

Ohh, I meant to add before - I know it’s super early, but I’m thinking Coffee might be a fooler! I heard them peep-honk a few days ago, but’ve heard nothing but peeping since - this is exactly what my fooler boys did. I’ll still be giving the Littles another week to make sure.
Also, I...
I’m amazed any of my ducks choose to leave the lake 🤣 Thankfully, since these guys are still ducklings, they’ll just follow me around like I’m their mama (I basically am ;)). I’m trying to teach them the words ‘food’ and ‘treat’ now so they’ll keep returning as adults.
Oo, yes! I’ve been...
Wow! So many boys!
For sure, I’ll definitely let y’all know! I know what it’s like to have foolers, haha. I kept 14 ducklings from my first hatch, thinking I had 10 hens and 4 drakes - my shock when I realized I actually had 6 hens and 8 drakes :hit However, I’ve learned how to voice sex...
Yes, I think I posted a couple other pictures of her in this thread. I got Pitaya with Caramel - her and Caramel are half-sisters :) Same dad, different mom.

Me too! When I started this, I really wanted to try keeping a crested girl, and the fact that the first-born is my crested girl makes her feel soo much more special ☺️
Yes, she’s a girl! You can certainly tell by the voice. As adults, drakes will make a raspy squawk, and hens will produce a loud quack-quack-quack, but even as ducklings, you can hear the females make what’s called a “peep-honk.”
I’ve been able to hear Laffy peep-honking since she was just 10...
Some pictures of the Little 5!
I’ve tried my hardest to label who’s who from left to right, but understandably, the yellow babies look very similar 🤣
A blurry photo of the Little 5 - they don’t sit still for long! Coffee, Lemon, Peppermint, Coconut, Strawberry

Central Texas. I have 45 acres.. 😅 About 6 - 7 of those acres are my main property + the pond, though. The rest is just grazing land for my other animals.
