Unfortunately, the part that is too small is the hose adapter, not the fitting on the IBC. @Smokerbill, I'm going to measure what size the fitting is, and compare it to the info you linked. Thanks! I can continue to do what I've done for two summers, which is to fill a bucket from the IBC...

I'm going to post this in a few threads, and hopefully SOMEONE will have the answer. We have an IBC tote with about 200 gallons of water in it by the heavy soil garden that is too far from the house to run a hose. Hubby ordered a fitting with a garden hose connection that should have screwed...

Today I'm going to water the heavy soil garden, and then mulch what isn't mulched. I think I'll use a bit of the Alaskan Fish Fertilizer I have on the tomatoes and other stuff.

I don't know how I got the idea you were in Michigan! I see "south-eastern M..." and for some reason, I thought Michigan. 🤦‍♀️ What zone are you in? We've been 5b for a long time, but just got bumped up to 6a. And I'm so old I remember before they split the zones into a and b. When I was a...

@JacinLarkwell, MSU has a LOT of info online about growing just about anything here in Michigan.

I'd heard of this for carrot, but not for anything else. This time, I bought a different variety of chard, soaked the seed overnight, and planted them in pots full of compost. If this doesn't work, I'll figure that the garden gods do not want me to grow chard.

Seeds not sprouting was a big topic on the other garden thread. A lot of them came from Baker Creek. :( I am going to replant chard for the 2nd time today, and see if I get a better germination rate. So far, I'm only 2-3 out of 20. I soaked the second batch, and it was no better than the first...

I hope I'm as productive in the garden today as I was yesterday. I need to go to the store, and that will eat up my morning.

It would be a challenge to get netting over them. I'm thinking I need to look for something. Not the flimsy 1/2" black plastic stuff. That gets all tangled in the plant (used it on blueberries last year) and you end up tearing off leaves and buds to get it off at the end of the season.

For anyone who has cherry trees... how do you keep the birds from eating the cherries? This is the first year we will get a cherry crop, IF the birds don't get them. Does the reflective tape work?

All the starts are out in the garden, in dog crates that are covered with sheets. 46 for a low tonight, then lows of 50s in the next week. Tomorrow is supposed to be partly cloudy, so they'll get some filtered sunshine for awhile.

I'm going to use Tomato Tone on my 'maters and peppers this year. It's organic, made by Espoma. I've used their Tree Tone on my fruit trees, and I think it has made a HUGE difference to my cherry trees. Their soil acidifier has made a HUGE difference to my blueberries too. Anybody else use that...

I need more and bigger pots. I split up a couple of "two-fers" that were in a pot into two pots. Oh, my! They had some good roots on them, that's for sure. Good sign of how they're all doing, I hope!

Some of the plants in the green house would like to move outside, but they need to hang tight for another 3-4 weeks. Like the luffas. I planted 21 seeds, 3 to a pot, and dang it! they ALL came up! This never happens! I was expecting one or two per pot, with some zilchos in there. Last year, I...

It's "the dry day" for the week. Or, that was what they said last Friday. Now we have more just "possible shower" days. Good. I have a lot to do, and need to get it done soon. So why am I still here on BYC? I'm waiting for the washer cycle to finish. Yeah, that's it. Just as soon as the washer...

I wanted to get "some stuff off the porch." Among the stuff: 16 (!) bags of coffee grounds from Starbucks. (They give them away.) So they went around various plants in the garden. I have been putting coffee grounds around the blueberry bushes for a couple years. The soil there has gone from...

Same for me, @tripletfeb. I've done all I can to protect/save the blueberry and cherry flowers/buds. Now it's up to hope and luck.
