What I am thinking is that this chick is curious. I have found that my newborn chicks peck at eachother, sometimes causing loud chirps, but they don't mean any harm.

I do not close my coop doors. If it is made predator proof then you do not need to close them. The only time I feel the need to close my doors is when I am building onto the coop or the run.

Maybr put some scratch/chicken feed into a dog crate or something with a door that you can close behind the hen. Wait until she goes in to get the food and then close the door behind her. There is a wild chicken caught!
Just as a little example of how much my 9 hens have produced with Golden Oak Layer feed, I currently have 50 eggs in my fridge from 5-6 days. (Some of the eggs I collected on the 25th are probably from the 24th too because the math would not add up with 9 hens and 5 days equaling 50 eggs.)
