Maybe it is Dolly's silkie half that has her channeling her inner broody. 😆
The other 2 that I noticed will sit down, act broody, and shove eggs under them. They do end up leaving after a few hours though. They even squawk and peck at me if I get too close (when I am checking on Dolly during...

Do any of yall know why I have chickens who brood for the day and only Dolly who broods to stay?
So. The numbers aren't on em anymore. Lol. She has rubbed them off. Only 5 eggs are left.
Also. My Americana and my RIR Cinnamon keep going broody but only during the day.
Why are some hens (or pullets) broody for the day and others are broody for the stay?
Like today. Big Ole egg. Def was not there before. Might have a double yolk. I didn't see one when I candled. Dolly is down to five eggs btw. I saw darkness but didn't see movement. My candler is missing so had to use the rinky dink one on the incubator.
Btw btw....if Dolly gets off her eggs....and it's 85 here WITHOUT heat index (it's actually closer to 90-95 most days) then they should be okay for awhile right? She is never off more then 30 minutes and that's in the middle of the day. Plus someone always goes and sits on the eggs (I assume to...
Btw how long can eggs just relax without a broody on top before they are in danger? I have a chicken who keeps being broody but only for a few hours each day. I take the eggs after she refuses to come back. Like is perched on top of the run with everyone else sleeping.
And Nugget has fuzz down the legs. So the mom had fuzz down the legs. Maybe Luna was it's mom! Luna has yellow dragon like fert and is a dark brahma. Ooooo. Guess we will see.
Yeah. I expect some "Hey there you're new" pecks lol. I just want the Seramas to be protected. I do have Nugget who is double their size. I think Kithara is the dad bc of the legs. They go from grey to orange. Kithara is the only orange legged one I have. Everyone else is gray or pink or pale...
Oh! And I have a decent size cat litter box with a lid. Can always put her in there with the eggs. It's a bit deep though. Thoughts? The ducks are about 8 to 10 weeks old as well. They are Jumbo Pekins.
