The town we live in now lets me have 15, so I’m within their limit, plus my neighbors like the eggs I share and wouldn’t complain even if I had more than the limit. I hope our new neighbors don’t hate chickens . . .

How’s your day?

I’ve been busy painting - trying to finish up the bathroom today and have a lot of spots here and there that need a fresh coat of paint before we have someone come take pictures for selling our house. How have you been?

Yes, my husband starts a new job in a couple weeks. We’ll be moving, as it’s 2 hours away from where we currently live. He’s going to have to commute for a while, since we haven’t found the right house to buy yet. His parents live about half an hour away from his new job, so he may stay with them during the week.

Ooh ok. Ever thought about renting your house?

We have rented in the past, our first house was a duplex. It was a mostly good experience because we were fortunate to have good renters most of the time, but the one renter we had that wasn’t good created a lot of headaches while we were renting to him and cost when he moved out.

It’s something we considered before deciding to sell, but the distance and our schedules would mean we’d have to hire property management to help with managing it. At that point, it became not worth it, so we decided to sell.

Coming along! We hope to be finished by Wednesday, get the carpets cleaned on Thursday, pictures taken on Friday, house listed on Monday.

Haha, that’s sweet of you! Fortunately and unfortunately, there aren’t a ton of houses on the market around here right now. Good news because our house should sell quickly. Bad news because it’s hard to find one to buy.

We’re not moving too far away (about a 1.5-2 hour drive, depending on where we end up finding a house) and the housing market is just as crazy there. More houses available, but they’re more expensive and they get snatched up quickly. We’re putting an offer on one tomorrow, I really like it and our agent thinks we stand a good chance of making a strong offer that will be appealing to the seller.

Ooohh, Gotcha. I hope your house sells quickly, and I hope you can buy that house!
