For those who raise Ameraucanas do these appear as such? The pullets (not shown here) are all solid black and these cockerels in the picture are all black gold from the same batch of hatching eggs.
I am located in SC if anyone still has interest in getting into these Heritage birds. I have some pullets hatched Feb 15th and a few cockerels and a rooster. Prior posts in this thread show the stock they came from.
Very nice. I'm doing the same. I have 3 coops set up to breed more. Hopefully
I have not weighed them, but I would guess the grown hens are 10 lbs or more and the roosters a couple pounds heavier.
I have made it through about 500 pages.
I am trying to keep them as close to the original...
Thank you! I'm glad to hear someone who raises heritage is still following this thread. I had really figured everyone left because the thread was hijacked. How long have you had your birds? How many do you have? Yes, they are very large docile sweet birds. Good to hear from you!
I have just about wrapped up my brooder build. It is 48" x 30" x 18". It has a pull out pan underneath to clean out waste. 2 of 13 eggs have hatched. Hopefully tomorrow or the next night the chicks will be ready to move into their new temporary home.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've been raising chickens for several years. Most of my chickens are production RIR, but I am beginning to raise a few that came from Dick Horstman's line.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 19 hens...
