    Chicken waddling like a duck

I see lots of messages about the dark green poo, which is one of the symptoms, but I now have two chickens walking with their legs spread apart, tails hiked up, just like they are egg bound. They still eat and run for treats. One sits a lot. I checked their anuses and they are clear and open...

Hen is waddling like a duck and breathing hard

I got your message, thanks. After reading about EYP, I decided not to try antibiotics because they probably wouldn't work. The hen is still waddling, but getting bigger and slower. Her vent is constantly oozing. Even if the antibiotics helped, would all that mass that's inside her clear up...

Hen is waddling like a duck and breathing hard

One of my 3 year old hens is walking like a duck, legs apart like she's got something between them. She is also breathing hard with her beak open. She also has a hard time jumping up on anything. She still acts normal otherwise - eats, drinks, scavenges. She's been like this for a month or...

Sick Hen - What is it?

Never mind, I found it. Thanks.

Sick Hen - What is it?

I didn't know there was an emergency section. How do I post to it?

Ended Official BYC Contest - Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2014

This is Dixie during her first molt earlier this spring. I thought she had a tumor cause I'd never seen a crop uncovered before. She is a Partridge Rock. I enter her in the "other" category.

    Clear, runny poop

One of my chickens has been pooping a clear, slimy mucas, sometimes with a drop of yellow or green. When she does this, the other chickens run to eat it. Sometimes the others will follow her around with their beak in her vent looking for something. I don't see any worms or bugs in the...

Lump on Chest - what is this?

I went back out later in the day and the redness was gone, but the lump is still there. I looked at all the other chickens and they also have lumps, but just not as noticeable because they have feathers. I'd just never seen a bare breasted chicken before and the redness made it more scary...

Lump on Chest - what is this?

My chicken has been molting for about a week, but today I see a large red lump on her chest. Is this something wrong? Maybe it's just cold (it's now 31 degrees here)? Since molting, she's not been herself, but that's normal during molting isn't it? I've also noticed she sometimes walks...

How can I tell if they have started laying yet?

I had a hen start laying at 15 weeks. And my last chicken just started laying at 26 weeks.

    How much to feed

I've been leaving the feeder out for the chickens to eat at will (5 chickens). I'm afraid they may be getting fat. I tried feeding twice a day, but that still averaged out to the same amount I was putting in the feeder. Does someone have a formula for how much feed a chicken should get each...

    Miscarriages and Feather Frosting

Regarding the apple cider vinegar, do you put it in the water daily or just once in a while? Doesn't that make the chickens thirsty? I've heard of using vinegar for deworming, but not for egg laying. Thanks.

    Miscarriages and Feather Frosting

Thanks. Here's my frosted chicken. The "frost" has gone away but sometimes she is whiter than other times. She doesn't seem to be affected by it. When I rub the feathers, nothing comes off. It's the darndest thing.

    Miscarriages and Feather Frosting

I have a good picture but when I tried to attach, I got a message that said "You are not permitted to create attachments". How can I attach a picture to the post? Thanks. As for the age of the chicks, they are about 26 weeks and have been laying regularly for about 2 months, so they are not old.
