I had a very special chicken teach me a very hard lesson once. Mean girls will always be mean.
So now I have a firm, "get along or get gone" rule. Cats, dogs, chickens. The rule applies equally and they all know their place.
Except the chickens think they're dogs, the dogs think the chickens...
Sorry for the confusion. They were sick when I brought them home.
They were kept in my garage because they were sick, which I didn't know beforehand.
But no, there were no chemicals or contaminants in the garage.
Yes, I'll just throw it out. I can't risk getting wild animals sick, either.
I took them back, they didn't die in my care.
In hindsight, I should have culled and sent one off. I'm sure she put them back with her other chickens or culled and trashed them anyhow. I mean, they were already paid...

Well, I threw everything away, EVERYTHING- except a bag of feed. It was a brand new bag of Kalmbach I had opened for them. I poured some into a feeder, and the bag was off to the side but I'm a moron and left it open.
They were in...
It doesn't look like bumble to me.
Is there a hard, dark "scab"?
Hard to tell how swollen it is with no comparison at the same angles/lighting.
The red spot looks irritated, or perhaps an old scab that's healed?
How is she walking?
It's hard to prevent digging injuries, but any of the main...
Long- thanks in advance.
On 12/23 I went to pick up three 10 month old Barred Rocks from a chicken farm.
When I arrive to pick them up, they were wet, muddy, and smelled awful.
Plucked saddles, disheveled feathers, fowl pox and dry combs. I had driven an hour for them and I have a bleeding...
