I miss wild mulberries... Brings back good childhood memories. I planted one this year in my duck pen. Figured they would enjoy the ones that fall to the ground...
Speaking of ducks, I butchered 2 drakes tonight. They were being so aggressive and mean to the girls. I separated them for a month...
Well I think I've lost my entire Catawba grape harvest. I noticed that the foliage was really late coming out but vines had a ton of fruit on them... Just no leaves. Once leaves started to come out, I noticed rust spots. Treated for them several times now... But today I saw that most of the...
About to do a bunch of berries...
Using regular cookie sheets to freeze pineapple and Nectarines which I can do tomorrow, after the berries finish.
Sweet corn tastes amazing...
Stopped by Walmart... Picked up some apples, Nectarines, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, broccoli, asparagus, peppers, pineapple, and squash.... All to FD.
Forgot bananas. Dang it.
Same.... I've tried 3 or 4 different types. Seeds and established plants. It always dies...usually in Year 1. This one is going on Year 2 so MAYBE it's a good sign...
I would like to go get some overripe bananas and FD them for our bunny. He's goes bonkers for bananas... Maybe I'll just do an entire fruit run with apples and peaches too. How hard is it to FD sliced pineapple?
I also have some zucchini to do. I was going to try it tomorrow after the corn is...

Raining today and the atmosphere has turned a sickly yellow green color. Hoping that isn't a precursor for a tornado (which is possible although they aren't supposed to be strong).
I have my hose draining into the bucket too. I would dump it before using the FD again simply because I don't want water just sitting in the bucket. Knowing my luck, my granddaughter would get into it... 🙄
Wow... A lot to unpack here.
1. Eggs, meats, and produce are the biggest reasons why I bought it. Especially for ham. I need a good way to preserve ham chunks beyond just the freezer.
2. Silicone molds - yes, I've seen these in Hobby Lobby a gazillion times. What are you using them for...
Hello folks! I am starting a thread all around freeze drying. I am BRAND NEW to this subject. In fact, I'm doing my first run - the bread run - as I type this...
I'd love tips, tricks, and support for Q&A, along with what DOESN'T freeze dry (or rehydrate) well.
I love my wisteria... It IS very invasive though. Pops up everywhere in the yard but I don't mind because DH simply mows it down every week in the normal process of mowing the yard. 😉
