Thank you for posting this, I was about to order some 28 dollar straight run chicks because of the hype about this breed. But just as I would not subject my birds to confined battery type housing, neither would I be interested in confining them in boxes for a month before they were butchered. so...
Some birds are agressive, saves weaker ones from getting pecked bloody. The beaks are like fingernails, there are no nerves at the ends and are pretty soft when they do the clipping, I don't believe it actually hurts.
