Hen is lethargic for a couple of days

Definitely need to treat the others too since I’ve checked them all and they all have it :(

Hen is lethargic for a couple of days

Update: just gave her an Epsom salt bath and was able to really check her out and noticed not only the little white bugs all over but also something else attached to her feathers around the butt area. I’m posting a picture hoping to get some info here as to what this is and how to treat it.

Hen is lethargic for a couple of days

One of my hens has been a little off for a few days. Not coming running for food and treats, keeping to herself. This morning she didn’t come out of the coop and I grabbed her to see if I can see what the problem might be. I noticed she has a lot of little white bugs on her. I’m assuming that’s...

Deceased hen tested positive for Marek’s

So, one of my hens died a few days ago. She was fine on Sunday but on Monday morning she didn’t come out of the run and when I found her she was very lethargic and didn’t do anything which is very unusual for her. My daughter is a vet tech and I took her to her clinic where she died shortly...

Rooster can’t use his left leg

Thanks for responding. I don’t see anything that suggests what might go on. Marek’s has been ruled out by a vet but his leg seems to get stiff and when I’m trying to manipulate it carefully I’ve noticed that it doesn’t extend fully anymore. His foot is not gripping and just seems to be limp...

Rooster can’t use his left leg

Thanks for the response. No, there’s literally nothing that suggests what is going on. The only thing I’ve noticed that after almost a month since he first showed signs of problems his leg seems to be getting stiff now. He’s not able to fully extend anymore. And his foot is just limp. I am so...

Rooster can’t use his left leg

I posted a few weeks ago regarding my rooster’s left leg. On April 30th he suddenly seemed to have his leg injured. He started limping and couldn’t really put weight on it. My daughter is a vet tech and although her clinic doesn’t deal with chickens the doctor checked him and they did an X-ray...

    Rooster limping/curled foot

I just took some picture of him in his pen. This is how he sits if he’s not hopping around on his good leg.

    Rooster limping/curled foot

Would it be beneficial to administer Vitamin B12 injections subcutaneously?

    Rooster limping/curled foot

Thanks for the response. We do have him separated and he’s sitting down a lot. He does eat, drink and poop normally. His leg/foot seem to have no feeling at all. It looks quite limp and he can’t use it at all at the moment. I’ll try to get a pic of him in his pen laying down and post it...

    Rooster limping/curled foot

We did start to give him vitamins (Poultry Cell and Rooster Booster) to see if it is due to vitamin deficiency. It’s only been a little more than a week though and if it is due to a deficiency then it sounds like this might take a long while to improve. He’s a very shy and flighty guy and I’m...

    Rooster limping/curled foot

Posting here hoping to get some insight/advice. Not sure if anybody else experienced anything like this with their chickens but I’m not sure what’s going on. Our 6 month old roo started displaying issues with his left leg/foot over a week ago. It literally happened from one day to the other...

    Reintroducing injured chicken

Trying to figure out how to best deal with reintroducing one of my hens to her flock. She was pretty badly injured a few days ago and I was lucky enough to find a vet who stitched her back up. This was four days ago and she hasn’t seen her flock since because she actually has sutures and...

    Predator question

Thanks everyone for the input. We set the trap again last night after the incident and caught another raccoon. We relocated the first one and are now questioning if it was far enough. But at the same time we also wonder if it’s a raccoon altogether because the fact they all made it without major...

    Predator question

So, I’m kinda stumped as to what is getting after my chickens. Last week we’ve had an incident where my two RIR hens were attacked by some animal. It was in the evening between 6 and 7 pm. Luckily they both got away. One is limping on her right leg, the other ended up with missing most of her...
