We had a good time sprucing up the coop last weekend. The whole family spent the weekend picking out plants and shrubs to plant around the coop and had a lot of fun doing it too...now lets just hope the plants survive some pics on this link...

I have a new puppy, she is about 13 weeks old and I have had her for about 3 weeks. At first she was pretty good around my hens, but now she wants to chase her...any advise on how to get her accustomed to being around them so I can let them free range again...

Too funny! I can definitely relate, I grew up just outside a major city and now live in the country, grow veggies, raise chickens,and blog about it all. I love it, but when I tell my "old friends" or even my coworkers, they all laugh...oh well, sometimes I laugh too...

I introduced my 10 week old puppy to my 3 hens today and had no idea how things would go! My hens were definitely afraid and my puppy was curious, she watched them and when they ran so did she, right after them! I'm pretty sure she just wanted to play, but am going to make sure to watch them...

I don't know, but hope they live longer than that! I have 3 hens, a golden sex link, black sex link, and Rhode Island red...and the black sex link is the friendliest and my favorite! I hope she lives for a long time! I have lots of pictures of them on my blog, if your interested...

Have you ever thought of building a chicken tractor that you can move around your yard? That way they can eat the bugs out of your lawn while they fertilize at the same time. The only con is that you will need to move it often or they will destroy the lawn. I built one for 3 hens...the only...
