    Sudden guinea death

Thank you for ideas. Fatty liver hemmoragic disease do not fit, liver looks normal to me and I almost do not treat. Chicken feed and grass is all they get. Aortic rupture might be, that I will never know. I'll check on fats though since I changed chicken feed to less expensive one, maybe too...

I opened up my boy just yet and found way to much coagulated blood in abdomen cavity. Some injury which caused internal bleeding maybe? And my girl was just starting to lay eggs and died. Checked for egg bound but found nothing yet maybe it could be related? Would appreciate for some ideas or...

    Sudden guinea death

Hello there, I'm new to guinea, had four of them for a year, now only two left. A boy and a girl died very suddenly, running happily one day, dead the next. After some reading and talking with poultry keepers I came to believe they are hardy birds. I came to expect a sudden death from a...

Can chicks die because of bad genes?

Well thats interesting. We are building a big chicken run anyway, I am pretty sure it's clean. At least previous owners of our new farm kept poultry in that place and horses before them. Never thought to worry about soil poisoning.

Can chicks die because of bad genes?

Hello there, I'm trying to figure out why chicks from my own flock keep dying. I raised quite a few this year, both bought as chicks and hached in incubator by my self, with diferrent results (some very good), but none as bad as chicks from my flock. Even incubated by chicken seemed to be very...

Hi there! I am rather new to both byc and keeping chickens and I find this place wonderfull for all the questions I have. People here are very friendly and ready to help, I'm sure you will like it here. I keep bantams and yes, roos are quite noisy. Not sure if hens alone would be that noisy but...

    Raising chicks with hens

So one coop for one hen at a time. My flock isn't big also, ten hens and one roo. I like the idea of separate coop for hen and chicks, I think it's the easyest way to keep them safe. Thanks!

    Raising chicks with hens

Thank you both for the answers! I am srarting to have some kind of idea what to do. If I deside to build a small coop for broody hens with secure run just for them can I keep all hens in a same space? Like one coop for the flock and one for all hens that go broody? We are lucky with predators...
