    Avoiding Future Gut Impaction

Some weeds are bad for animals to eat. Check that? I don't use bark or pine. I use aspen. Difference? Ive found that Sand is easier to clean

    Dust baths

When do chicks start dusting? Do they have to be taught? My babies are 2 1/2 months old. All they do is try to eat it?! I have a mix of wood ash, commercial chicken dust powder and dirt.

Do hens eat and drink at night?

Thank you for that fact. I'm gonna get a night sensor light and put it in my small coop. Because it's too dark when it's raining outside and I can't let them out. I noticed in the day they would eat when I opened the little door to put the food in or change their water in the morning, but it was...

Scared to come out of coop

What do you do when it's raining hard? I had to rescue my babies and put them two by two in there consecutive coops. Mine is designed end on end with a run in the middle. Scared to come out of coop

Thank you. That helps a bit to know that others have had the same problem now. My chicken is going underneath the ramp. And just laying down, she's so scared. Sometimes I just pet her and try to assure her that it's ok

Scared to come out of coop

I raised my four chicks in the house with an open top covered by hardware cloth. One of my chicks called ChiChi Was scared to come out of her coop when I put her in there for the first time. Praise God. It's been a week and she finally came out of her coop, but I had a cover tarp over the top of...

My rooster killed the hawk terrorizing our flock.

Wow that's crazy. I never thought they were that aggressive. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to have a rooster where I live or I would have one.

    Ants

Well, anyway, we know that chickens are messy. How I spotted some ants? The food was on the ground, so I'm going have to remove food at night from the coop So it doesn't escalate. This is my first time with chickens. It's frustrating sometimes.

Mice in the chicken run! How do I eliminate them?

I would use hardware cloth and enclose the run. Traps outside of run to catch the mice. Check out some mice traps that are friendlier online. Some use a simple box with a flip door and then they can't get out.

What can I add to my chicken coop/run for them to climb on and play with?

I bought a chicken roost swing of sorts for my 4 girls but don't know if that would fit in your area. (It was difficult to assemble) I also have a vegetable holder and spike. I placed several branches horizontally with screws on the ends to insert inside the screens for support as roosts. I...
