OMG! Our Tetras (now all named- Poppy, Georgie, Chrissy, and Elliot) have been laying like CRAZY! I've been getting about 1-2 eggs a day now from them which is actually a lot, considering this time last month we were getting 0 eggs a day!
Another one today! I saw it come out of her vent which was gross, but i'm so glad they're laying! I compared it to an Australorp egg that was just laid and the Australorp one was 3x bigger almost!
It's possible to train a chicken to poop on a newspaper or in their cage, but I heard its hard and they'll be running back and forth all day. Diapers are the easiest things, for you and the bird. When I got them, they were about $15 each which was pretty good.
Kinda both. We have 4 Tetra Tint pullets (like I said), they're about 20 weeks and should start any minute, I hope! I hope you get egg soon, too!
The only hen that we have that's not laying is Speckles, but even then she lays about an egg a month, sometimes more.
Thanks! Our 4 chicks we just got from them are Japanese Bantams- I've seen their mothers (and the father!). Sadly barely any of our chickens are laying lol. The only ones that are are my 3 Australorps and my one PR hen. We get about 3 eggs a day at most, and we have 19 chickens total! We have a...
Thanks! We live in Central/Western Maine. We usually buy our chickens and ducks from Craigslist or Facebook groups, but we bought 4 baby chickens from a farm and 4 Tetra Tint pullets from Tractor Supply.
Yup. Besides him, we have 4 baby chickens from them, too!
This is the best pic I have of Finn. I'm pretty sure he is an American Game x Japanese Bantam, since that's what the neighbors have.
The next chickens I get, I really want to be Hamburgs. Specifically, GSH, or SLH. I still want to breed them, too!
