Right now I fly out of the Sunport. I rent for a few more months but I'm actively looking for a plane right now. I'm not sure if I'll keep my plane there or Double Eagle. There is a lot of politics in play in aviation....it's sad really.

I can do Santa Fe. I'm up there quite often. Or I could jump in my plane and fly to Las Vegas and meet up a little closer to you. That would be a fun flight for me from Albuquerque down to Hobbs. Could be a fun reason to go grab coffee/breakfast and talk chickens. Really for me there isn't...

We are starting to get a few active people on this NM board. Any interest in trying to get together? I like to put faces to names with people I chat with. And I'll almost always talk about my birds and the silly ways they are.

Good morning all! Putting the finishing touches on the inside of the coop today so the girls can finally move in! Woot. Then it's just paint the outside and I be done with the new build. Can't wait. Pics will be uploaded soon.

Sporadic Travel - can I leave them in coop a few days

I'm in the process of finishing my new coop build. It will be better for the girls when I leave for a few days. But yes, larger is better.

Thanks. I can't wait to see the difference it makes for the birds. 1) it's bigger and should give them what they need. Not to mention I can keep their food and water under cover. 2) I'm already planning on adding a few more birds to fill out my flock and egg production. I think at least 4 more...

Morning Cafe. Gearing up for the final few days of my coop build. Pretty much just painting and filling it up with nesting/poop material so the birds can finally move in. They are very curious about it right now. I can't keep them out of it so I can finish painting. I guess that's a good sign.

Morning Cafe. I agree with the No moving rule. It works for pets and young/sick kids. If they are asleep on you, sometimes its best not to wake the sleeping beasts. :)

Morning all. Its a beautiful day, still a little cold. But the sun is out. Starting to work on the inside of the coop and figure out what I'm going to do for a human door on the thing.

Sporadic Travel - can I leave them in coop a few days

Good info here. I don't travel often, but when I do DH isn't as enthusiastic about remembering the birds that provide breakfast. I'm building a bigger coop right now so that I can be sure they are well taken care of on the few trips I take during the year. It's good to know that a properly...

Diva, they've already christened the new floor. I'll clean it good and then put some of that roofing tar stuff that others have used down. Then they can poop to their hearts content and it wont damage the wood.

Morning all. Building anything in the winter was probably not the best idea....but I live in New Mexico, so winter's aren't usually that bad. However, we've had a nice cold streak. I think someone is trying to tell me that I'm a little crazy. Anyways, the girls will love it much better than...

I started a build page for it so you can watch the progress as it goes up and gets all the things added to it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/coop-build-woods-style
