Does anyone know of an app or website that has a "What kind of chicken is this " calculator on it? Something where you would answer questions like comb type, shank color, feather color/pattern etc and it would tell you what breed you have.
If there isn't one would someone please make one-...
I'm in Clarksburg , just outside Germantown and have the contact for a local man the will process small batches of poultry. Haven't used him yet myself, but have a couple of turkeys I plan to send him in November. PM me if you want his info, don't want to publicly post it.
It's going to be hard to find a hatchery that has all those breeds- The Show girls and Seramas are going to be the tough ones. You'd be better off looking for breeders, but would be unlikely if a private breeder has all those breeds.
Don't have much to add, but did want to tell Fiddlebanshee that the chicken math in your signature made me laugh until I realized it may hit a little to close to home for comfort for me:)
This little guy is only about 4 weeks old but has started strutting around so much we call him "Little Big Man"
It's my first time raising turkeys- Is it normal to strut this young or am I looking a a real handful here? No one else seems to be doing this?
My experience with him is that there is often a ( well worth it) wait for his chicks, that being said I've gotten chicks and hatching eggs from him at the Maryland poultry swap in the past- so if you plan to attend then you might be able to pick some up. Of course it's also worth getting the...
If you're just looking for 2 or 3 and aren't picky about the breed I can give you some- I'm in Clarksburg ( near Damascus). PM me and I'll help you out. -
( Disclaimer- I am crazy busy with a huge project for my kids school that will wrap up 4/20, so I can't really get them to you until...
Thanks for all the input and contact for getting NPIP - That's my big goal to get done this year. I've been building my flock and an hoping to be able to sell hatching eggs and birds at some point here in the future:)
Oh well- It was worth a try :)
If anyone else local wants them, I'm happy to give them a new home!
Also thanks for the NPIP info- I sent in registration with the state a year or two ago, but never heard anything back- Of course I only had six chicken then- HA!
I recently I won an auction listing that included some cream leg bar chicks as part of a mixed chick variety pack from a reliable breeder. As they have grown out 2 of the cream leg bars have developed extreme crossed beaks. I let the breeder know but was wondering if this is a common problem...
