Edit- this may not work for all chicks, but I found this helpful a while ago, for detecting gender for pullet vs. cockerel. Enjoy!

Looks like a pullet, and she's really pretty. Keep handling her and maybe she'll calm down. My girls were mean at that age too, when it came to food especially. She's establishing her place.

Also, I have two and the eggs are light blue. They are smart, friendly, quiet, and medium sized so good for hot weather.

She is a true wheaten Americauna and definitely a pullet. Congrats!

It's a wood dog house with a square large chicken wire box over it. I was never scared of predators like racoons because she's in the dog house and they can't get through the chicken wire. Never ever thought of snakes. I rigged some scrap hard wire and added more chicken wire around it...
