    non-broody fowl keepers

I would agree as I have heard many broody hens hatching different breeds and species. You just have to laugh at the situation. I had so much hope every time, only for her to abandon nest every time! But I have hope that maybe she will get it next year! I am in the cycle of hope, nope, repeat! 😂...

    non-broody fowl keepers

Mine are only a year old but I had a gen that spent the summer “going broody,” just to abandon the eggs. She would gather all the eggs, go broody for about 2 weeks and then just shift to the next nesting box over. she would shift faster if she saw me gather eggs. it’s like she was incensed...

I also just got some ducks and this is exactly what I was looking for! I could not find duck crumbles and All Flock does not contain Niacin.

    Are any of these Hens?

if they are all males, I know one local feed store near me does chicken swap meets, and another sells pullets in May. I’d probably just buy pullets, they are a little older and you wouldn’t be guessing.

    Are any of these Hens?

If you do have more rooster than you want/need, keep an eye on social media, craigslist, the local feed store, or even on here, there is a forum called “where am I, where are you?” Oftentimes you can trade a rooster for a pullet, without having to start completely over. Also, sadly, we know lots...

I got both a March Hatch and an April Hatch here! Welcome, Junior and Pippy! Pippy is a miracle chick, did not think she would make it, but she was born on April Fools Day, so she tricked us all and they seem to be thriving. Junior’s full legal name is Candy Pops Junior. He is named after his...

Chickens avoiding rooster, should I try incubating?

I think we are good. Next question, I just collected all the eggs from the nesting boxes, should I wait a couple days before trying to incubate? Or can I start tomorrow?

Chickens avoiding rooster, should I try incubating?

hello, Im not sure if this belongs here or in chicken behavior, so I apologize if I get it wrong. Here is my question: my chickens seem to be avoiding the rooster when he tries to mount them, they aren’t scared just tired of him, would it be worth it to even try and incubate the eggs...
