https://diyprojects.ideas2live4.com/2016/10/13/eggcelsior-hotel-inspired-chicken-coop/ I've been dealing with a pretty catastrophic life the last couple of years. Fire, cancer, multiple deaths, accident paralyzing family, etc...so, I'm just now getting back here. I'm so sorry for the late response.

He built this off the top of his head; but, someone reached out to me with questions when it was first built and then created a page for the design. I'm late as all get out to responding, here; but, here you go: https://diyprojects.ideas2live4.com/2016/10/13/eggcelsior-hotel-inspired-chicken-coop/

Putting a piece of Copper in water to stop Algae growth?

Dick, R. J.; Wray, J. A.; Johnston, H. N. (1973), "A Literature and Technology Search on the Bacteriostatic and Sanitizing Properties of Copper and Copper Alloy Surfaces", Phase 1 Final Report, INCRA Project No. 212, June 29, 1973, contracted to Battelle Columbus Laboratories, Columbus, Ohio...

Putting a piece of Copper in water to stop Algae growth?

The amount of copper it would take for the ppm to reach a toxic level is staggering. There is no way it would happen with just a piece of pure copper in the water. That would be like believing cooking on cast iron will cause you to have too much iron in your diet...a myth that has been disproven...

Holy smokes - just saw this. Been out of touch for a few years due to Life and all...it was just laminated wood steamed and clamped into shape.

Introducing new chicks to the coop

Oh gosh. I'm so sorry that I'm just now seeing this. I've been slammed at work (new job in June). I don't know that you still need the plans; but, I'll see if I can get my husband to draw them up and will post them for others who may want the same information. How are your babies doing?

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Forgetting about the whole "food grade plastic", etc.... Are you doing a yeast or LAB based fermentation? If you are doing LAB, are you doing it with an anaerobic or aerobic bacteria? Reason is....a yeast based or aerobic bacteria based fermentation will not do well (mostly die) in an...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Yes, it counts as an additional "meat protein". Whey and yogurt are also milk derived proteins. I'm glad to hear you're having such great results, Art Yes. The bacteria infests the ferment (which includes the grains).

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

    - I use a spreadsheet which is easier for me (it actually works without having to call on Pearson's Square); but, I use the square to confirm my ration calculations. I do like my sanity checks. I was going to use a ledger; but, I've found that I'm now totally lazy when it comes to arithmetic...

    Fermenting Feed for Meat Birds

Yes, they are indeed easy....The gal at the feed store this side of the highway does mealworm farming and has offered time and again to help me get set up. But, I just don't have the space for the volume of mealworms I'd have to process to meet my current (and growing) requirements. I don't...

Introducing new chicks to the coop

LOL - yeah, that can happen. I have a little Nankin (true bantam) that tends to try to bully my Muscovy ducklings...You should see the size disparity. It's pretty funny. Just keep interrupting the picking and it will eventually drop to a pretty random thing instead of constant.

Introducing new chicks to the coop

If they are only two to three weeks old, introduce them on a day that you have some time. Drop the little ones in, show them food and water locations, then keep watch. You may have one or two try to peck the itty bitties. When they do, thump them. They'll stop. Of course, I had one that I had...

    B.Y.C. Dorking Club!

Sweet - I paid my membership, jeez.....back in Feb(?)...he responded about three weeks later and told me he got it; but, then nothing. I'm very glad to see that things may get rolling to get the breeder's club back up and running again. With him out of school, now, maybe communications won't...
