Nope haha, he's big now! That picture was from about 2 years ago, we found an egg on our lawn and hatched it, but then my mom found out it was illegal to keep wild mallards so we had to take him to a wildlife rehab. It was sad, but he's probably happier now. Thanks for asking about him! I loved...
yeah, in two months I'll be able to tell. I'll try to remember to post pics in two months, but you might have to remind me lol. I'm super excited to see how he turns out!
Not actually sure yet... turns out they're only 3 months old so we'll just have to wait and see. The guy we got them from says that the black/ brown one could either be a red or a snowflake red mix. I'll tell you guys once I find out if you want. :)
I don't have much experience hatching quail eggs, I've only tried it once. what I know is that the humidity needs to stay up, humidity being too low is what killed my eggs. At least 50% I think, usually it should be higher though, more like 65%.
The eggs should be ok for a while without heat...
Actually I've gotten mixed answers, and have decided to go the safe way with not getting button quail. Please don't assume that I'm just choosing not to listen. I'm just confused about the bobwhites and scaled quail, I've been told by people that it's ok, and by other people that it's not ok...
I'm not planning on putting buttons in anymore, thank you. As for the other two quail species, do you think that the 20' 6'' x 14' would be good enough for a pair of bobwhites and a pair of blue scale quail? In another thread you said the pen had to be big but I don't know whether mines big enough.
No, I just post threads with questions about different things. Ive never posted anything about button quail, this is my first thread on button quail. Ive decided not to try it :)
Thanks!
That's crazy, finches are so tiny. Im planning on possibly keeping two or three finches with the quail too, so that's good to know that buttons and finches get along.
