I'm being a little dumb here. I know mash that is what I have feeding them, T hey waste a lot of feed. I keep trying different buckets to cut down on the waste. So what is the difference between the pellets and crumbles.
My losses are at night. It was after 10 when i last checked the coop. They leave the rest of the chicken on the ground.
Someone suggested maybe an owl in the barn.

I redid the windows with 2 x4 wire in place of the screen I had up.
It looks like they snap the neck or bite it to kill the chicken then proceed to eat from the backside in. The outer feathers a pretty much still on...
Where do you get this stuff. I just noticed this AM that i have a couple with the loss of tail feathers and a butt that looks shaved. The others peck at her. These chickens are now 7 months old. They are Golden Buffs.
Use shaving, pine, ash and what is available. No PT. I have a good relationship with the local lumber yard and mill shop. I get them free for just cleaning out the hopper.
They are glad to get rid of them, otherwise they have to pay to get them hauled away . A bottle of wine to the shop manager...
Boy I wish i could give you some of my eggs. We have a cooler full. Hope the Christmas baking season kicks in soon. We have and over supply. My old hens just keep laying on. While my new hens are getting started with buckets full. 152 today
Any suggestions what to do with the pullet eggs. Can't eat them all.
