Incubator Started to Malfunction on Hatch Day!

it is often recommended to drop temps 1 degree and raise humidity at hatching time. so saying that you will only be a couple degrees from optimum temp. Not sure if 95 will cut it but personally don't think it will be all that bad. (might be wrong there). do you have a heat pad to place on top of...

Incubator Started to Malfunction on Hatch Day!

If you could get the the one up to temp and humidity and have it maintain for a couple hours do that and transfer. Another option is use a heating pad placed on top of the old incubator with a towel placed on top to hold in the heat. not perfect but works in a pinch. just monitor temps closely.

    American serama thread!

Most hens will not eat their eggs. Some claim you can teach them not to but i have not found a way. I give the culprit away or invite her to dinner. Best to remove egg eaters as soon as found as they will teach others to do the same. I feed my flock and my flock feeds me not each other.

    American serama thread!

I have 8 together but would not recommend doing that unless they were raised together. If you have hens involved in the mix with them you are just asking for issues. I would recommend no more than two or three in with a group of hens depending on the number of hens involved.

    advice detached air cells...

Leave them like this for a about 4 to 5 days then turn on the turner. when it comes time for lock down i put them in egg cartons with the top of the carton removed and the bottoms cut out of the egg cups to allow for air flow. I have found this gives me the best hatch rate form loose / detached...
