Peach2u, sorry to hear about your dog. Time for a speed bump. Hello to all our newer members! I am not on the forum much since "The Change," but I am still raising bantam chickens, a couple of mini goats and now a few ducks here in the Mount Juliet area. If any of you are ever in the...

Hey there KandiandJerry! Sorry about your BBB rooster. BYC member ugly ducky (Gloria) used to have really beautiful ones, but it has been a couple of years since I saved that info. She may not be on here any longer, but it's probably worth checking. Good luck!

Hey pickledchicken, if you are looking for Birchen Marans, someone on craigslist out in LaVergne claims to have Bev Davis Birchens. Won't get any better than that in the U.S. Even Bev Davis says they are a work in progress, though. http://nashville.craigslist.org/grd/3090284400.html

And . . . just to finish my BYC business since I get on here so rarely these days: For those folks who are interested in chicken rescue (or dog, donkey, duck, turtle, rabbit and who knows what else), it looks like there will be plenty of opportunity to step in and help from that White County...

My bantam Ameraucanas have slowed down, silkies have pretty much stopped, d'Uccles are cranking out eggs like the Devil himself is after them with hot wing sauce. :) Now that the rain has come, we are on the lookout for cocci and worms. Another two days should do the trick there. ;)

Nashvegas, I would not put one day olds in with one week olds, since the tiny ones are just too fragile and wobbly. Your temp requirements are slightly different too. I do not think the week-olds would intentionally harm the younger ones, though. A lot depends on your brooder set up and...

So sorry to hear about my fellow Middle TN chicken folks losing birds to this awful heat. It is seriously nasty out there. Here's what I do for my birds in the heat: ICE TRAYS - - A couple of years ago I bought some pyrex (glass) brownie pans at the dollar store. I put one in each pen...

Hey there CityGirl! All well over here. Looked like someone dumped a huge cooler of ice on us Friday afternoon, and we had winds of around 50mph. All critters well and good, but I did cancel my Friday wine tasting. (well, of course that did not stop me from enjoying a glass here at home)...

Evening folks! It is so nice to finally sit down and catch up on what's going on. Unfortunately I am too tired to reply about all the neat stuff you all are up to, LOL! Welcome to our new folks, and thanks for posting photos of your birds! Very cool. Yeah, the weather is putting our...

Hey CityGirl! If there is going to be a Mid-TN chicken folk gathering this weekend, I am game. Lunchtime is better than critter feeding time, but I will make it work whenever - - I would love to see you all again! :) I agree re. seramas - - I would go to a serama show if it were very close...

Morning everyone! It was even colder here last night. . . my porch therm cut off at around 13, so it was probably just around that temp. Doesn't feel too bad, though. No wind! Here's a pic I snapped this weekend when my mom came over to visit Claire the baby pygmy goat...
