Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Thanks, I've lost about 6 chickens to the neighbor's dogs this year. For 20 years, they were free-range, but in July 2022, the property directly across the street was purchased by a family that doesn't confine their dogs. We had to create a large system of coops for our birds, but there is an...

So far, I have 8 surviving baby peafowl from this summer. Three are hand-raised, born 4th of July weekend. Three are just 3 days old, being raised by mom in a coop. And I gave two to my neighbor to hand-raise. One more hen is on a nest and I expect a hatch within a week or two. Very exciting!

    rehome Peacock and Hen

I live in east Grays Harbor (about 30 miles from Olympia.) I have had peafowl for about 3-4 years now and I have two neighbors just getting started. I think they both have their coops peacock-ready. If you are still trying to rehome yours, I may be able to help.

    Peahen sitting on nest or....

I'm having this problem now. One of my hens has a nest hidden in the woods and I can't find it. She flies up from a side of the property that I can't get to quickly enough to try to follow her. I'm very anxious that she won't survive nesting season, or that her chicks will be vulnerable. Today...

    Peacock body language?

Thank you for responding, that's very encouraging. I've heard so many stories of peacocks turning aggressive and wanted to make sure I wasn't completely misinterpreting the behavior. Your peafowl sure seem to be comfortable with you. Beautiful birds!

2 new peahens escaped... What should I do?

I hope your peahens have returned by now. A similar thing happened to me. Very kind friends gave us two peahens as companions for two peacocks they had given us the previous year. They passed on their birds out of kindness because they ran out of space and decided to give them to a good local...

    Peacock body language?

I'm sorry if this has been covered. I searched the forums, but with keywords I've used, there were no results. My peacock is 4 years old and was hand-raised by the folks who gave him to us. We also have 2 peahens who are 3 this year. My peacock, Argos, is very sweet and loves to be near us. He...

    SW WA new member intro

Hello, I've leaned on this website for 20+ years and just realized that I wasn't an actual member. I just fixed that and it said to post an introduction, so here goes: I live in East Grays Harbor County in SW Washington State. We've been on our 5.3-acre property since 2002. We've raised a lot...
