I'm the only person that works at my store that owns chickens so trust me I know all about them messing things up. Someone labeled marans as Australorps the other day....anywho these girls are too dark to be sapphire gems. The one on the right looks like she has a light spot on the top of her...
I'm thinking barred rock. I work at tsc. The sapphires are a premium bird so they wouldn't be mixed up with other breeds. And they have the cute muffy cheeks. Australorps have lots of white as chicks. And I think I can see some of the barred pattern starting on the wing feathers.
We visually saw the lice. We use all natural pine shavings in the coop. We emptied it burned the shaving sprayed with promethryn and then powdered the fresh shavings with promethryn powder. Did the same in all the nesting boxes. We saw no improvement in 2 weeks. We gave each burd a very...
We did all of that. We cleaned out the coop and nesting boxes. Sprayed them with the liquid promethrin. Then after we put down fresh bedding we sprinkled the he'll out if it with the Prometheus powder. We also treated all the birds with the liquid first then when that didnt work we tried the...
Discovered last week that my flock has a rather nasty infestation of lice. We set up de and permethryn baths. Put de in the area where they normally dust bath. Treated the birds, coop, and nesting boxes with the permethryn. The lice are still alive!! What else can I do?
We had the hobble on for 2 days. I also got a great tip to put her in a small bowl with paper towels to keep her legs under her while she slept. Between the 2 interventions she is just fine. You would never knowthere was an issue. On the second day she was a littles wobbly but now she runs...
I had 2 other roos that didn't have quite the same feathers. My female looks very much like the one above. And all 3 were crowing with bright red combs by 8 weeks
Its a pullet. This is my sebright roo. And sebrights also crow earlier than the vigger breeds. I think all 3 of my sebright roos have crowed by 8 weeks.
Thank you!! We have 3. Nani isnt in the pic. The one in the front is her sister Lilo. And the alpine is Fry. Between them and our 100+ birds we are never bored lol
I've always treated them the same. Ive found that my roosters tend to be more tolerant of being held than a lot of my hens. Except the bantams. My sebright want nothing to do with people. Hen or roo
They look very much like australorps. The first is a 14 week old Jersey and the second is an australorp hiding behind the goat. Shes an adult. That why her comb and waddle are so red.
