    Red/Black Star personality?

Thank you, everyone, for responding with your positive comments. We always handle our baby chicks, constantly(how can you help it!). ;) I wanted to be sure I clarified that the Back & Red Stars are Murry McMurry's hybrid chickens. That was the name they chose for their hybrids. Their website...

    Red/Black Star personality?

Hi, All. I've decided to try Red & Black star chickens for laying. I've ordered 3 of each to decide if we like one over another. Does anyone on here have experience with their temperaments? We've always gotten birds that are sweet tempered and they needed to be easy to handle because our...

New Delaware peeps have compacted poop

We just got 7 new peeps. 2 Delaware, 2 Buffs & 3 Rhode Islands. Both Delawares seem to have a back up of poop stuck in huge clumps to their rear ends. I was so concerned they would have problems, I had to snip away at the clumps to break them up. This is our first experience with Delawares...

New NJ member. Should I insulate the coop?

Hi, All. Just finishing our coop for our 3 Black Australorp chicks. We live in NW NJ, at a higher elevation. We pretty much get hammered in the winter. We also live a block from a lake with wicked winds coming off in the winter. If there's anyone on this site from my area, can you let me...
