Adopting older goslings- will they still imprint

That’s true. I don’t really want them imprinted on me, just friendly. Which they are-ish. Only slightly standoffish. My ducks however think I’m the devil 😅

Adopting older goslings- will they still imprint

Mine will still eat from my hands when I have treats and if I sit near them they will come over to me. But they don’t like me picking them up. They are friendlier with me than my ducks are for sure. But not as friendly as I was hoping. Not sure if that is an age thing or a goose thing.

coccidiosis? 2 week old silkie chicks.

I just picked up five silkie chicks this morning, 2 weeks old. They went straight into the brooder. It looks like their stool is solid but watery (if that makes sense). The puppy pad absorbed a lot of liquid around the stool. Also it looks like I see some specks of red/orange in it. I can’t...

Adopting older goslings- will they still imprint

I am adopting 3 Sebastopol goslings this week. They will be 4 weeks old. I am nervous about their age. Will they still bond with me or imprint if I spend time with them? Or is this too old to expect this? I have chickens, ducks, and quail. These are my first geese. Thank you!

Still in incubator. Lethargic and splayed leg

I’m pretty sure she is near the end…. She seemed to be doing better but still not good. Someone else told me in another forum that I should not have been trying to offer water/sugar water with a syringe and that she probably aspirated from it. I think they are right. I think from one of the...

Day old chick. Lethargic and splay leg. Where can I put it?

Sorry. There weee changes from my initial post but it still hadn’t had any replies in 12 hours. I was trying to create a whole new post but then I could r delete the old one. Didn’t realize that wasn’t an option. 😅. I replied to the other post. Thank you!

Still in incubator. Lethargic and splayed leg

I work tomorrow so I won’t be home most of the day. I can recruit my husband to help out, who will be home. But I’m not quite sure how to monitor her. Do I just keep her under the heat plate and take her out for drops of water?

Still in incubator. Lethargic and splayed leg

Thank you I ended up using vet wrap to help her legs. Not much change in her overall. But now my concern is she has been in the incubator for 24 hours. I don’t think she’d be safe in a brooder box if she can’t get away from the heat plate. I’m not sure what to do with her to give her the best...

Day old chick. Lethargic and splay leg. Where can I put it?

One of my silkies hatched but it has splay leg and seems lethargic. It has been in the incubator for 24 hrs now. I used vet wrap to make a splint for its legs but it still hasn’t walked. I tried sugar water and it seems to perk up for a second then lays back down. The other chicks went to a...

    Letting Mamas Raise Ducklings

I’ve got 3 Magpie Duck hens and 1 drake. 2 of the hens went broody right before I left on vacation. They’ve been sitting on eggs for around 18 days now. I’ve raised ducks in a brooder but never let a mama raise them. Lots of questions! 1. Should I take their pool away and just give water deep...

3 mamas each with chicks, FIGHTING

I wanted to let the mamas raise them first time doing this, obviously. Everything is going great. I let them all free range together, with supervision. Then I slowly incorporated one mama to the coop at a time. They are all together now, no issues 😁

3 mamas each with chicks, FIGHTING

So should I just keep them separated until weaned? When is that? Be have baby chicks but never let mamas raise chicks before

3 mamas each with chicks, FIGHTING

Hi! I have 3 hens that went broody at the same time. I didn’t have the heart to tell 2 of them no. Now all 3 have 3 babies each I’ve had no issues with the rest of the flock and the babies, but if the mamas come across another mama, they fight, really bad. I have all 3 mamas separated right...
