- My wife and I have started raising chickens from chicks purchased at the local feed store within the last month. We have been purchasing eggs from friends for several years who keep free-range chickens in the local community and decided it was time to start our own flock of ladies and take part in the delight and benefits that chickens in a backyard can be! This website was the tipping point for making the decision to raise chickens - most of our questions were answered via the forums here.
