Hello, my name is Caleb - welcome to my page! I am interested in gardening, hobby farming, and living sustainably. I currently have a small flock of chickens that provides me with eggs for eating and for egg sales. I would like to expand and try other types of poultry and...
You can do it nelgkel! Try some designs and show us how they turn out.
The hardest part for me is blowing the eggs out....it's pretty messy and time-consuming. I have a stash of tiny pullet eggs I've been putting off a few weeks...I need to get them blown out soon but I just don't have the time...
Thank you, nelgkel.
I didn't get around to doing as many eggs this year....it's been a busy fall and early winter.....but I enjoy the egg art and I'm hoping to make some more after Christmas!
Well, looks like they're all Hookbill/Campbell so far.....it's always exciting to see what comes out w/ mixed breeds.
Are there more trying to hatch? Are you going to give them all back to her or raise some in the brooder?

They are four weeks and one day old. I posted a question about 2 weeks ago asking how long broody hens care for their young. The answers I got ranged from 3-6 weeks.

Yup, that sounds right...my hens usually stay with their chicks anywhere from 4-7 weeks...all depends on the hen...
Congrats!
Hopefully she stays on them till the end. Nice looking Campbells btw...where did you get them from?
My friends have Pekins....I've hatched out 2 little clutches this year from under a banty chicken hen! The Pekins could care less about brooding...lol...
Ok...good to know she's a lavender....or silver....or uh.....not white?
With other blue poultry...
Black X Splash = 100% blue
Blue X Blue = 50% blue, 25% black, 25% splash
Black X Black = 100% black
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash
I'm guessing that...
Black/white Drake X Lavender/Silver Duck...
I'm thinking maybe momma isn't pure white....more like a light lavender colored muscovy? Looks like she might be very pale gray w/ some of that light brownish color on her chest....can't tell for sure tho...
You know how with Swedish a Black X Splash = 100% Blue offspring? Maybe the same thing...
