    I was thinking for protection during free ranging or quality of breeding. I'm new to raising chickens. I think I will keep the Silver Laced Cochin, he is very friendly and a beautiful rooster.

    thanks to everyone for the help. They will be 6 months old Sept 8th. We are getting about 6-8 eggs a day right now and several look close to being ready. We love to sit and watch them play it is so comical at times.
