Crow or no - Take 2

Awesome! Was watching for saddle feathers, but I think I’ve confused those with their wing feathers. Thank you!

Crow or no - Take 2

11 week old lavender orps, buff orp, Blue orp, and @Americaunas from Rural King looking a lot like Easter Eggers. Suspect many of these new babies are Roos. Are the pics good enough to tell? Too early still? They like to show me their fluffy butts more than their faces!

    Crow or no

I’m starting to believe seven of my seven new babies or Roos. Please let me know if you agree or disagree in your expert opinions.

I might have a few backyard mixes of Speckled Sussex Roo wit Barred Rock, Cuckoo Maran, Salmon Faverolles, and RIR in a couple of weeks to rehome. Diva, my Silkie went broodie while I was out of town for two weeks and I got home to find 6 eggs under her, but the other hens keep giving her eggs...

I hope broodies really can do this! Would make my Silkie finish her current project up very quickly! That'll teach me not to go away over the holidays.

Brenda Mick, east side chickens Facebook, has ducks to rehome if you or anyone you know are interested. Pekin and silver wing I think. I don't know much about ducks.

Has anyone tried the colored bracelet bands that are so popular with the kids lately? They remind me of bands for dental braces, but aren't nearly as stiff. Very inexpensive too. I paid $12 for 2500 for the kids to make bracelets.

Oh, I'm always on the site oohing and ahhhing over new hatch pics, reading and learning, but haven't participated in the dialogue much. Love the BYC site!

That's great we can meet up. My Silkie was sitting on a clutch when I returned from Florida. Not sure any will survive through this polar vortex, but I decided to let her try after seeing how dedicated she was to the cause. She has five under her including one of hers which I hope isn't fertile...

Princess came in to keep Roscoe company and to give her a break from being lowest in the pecking order. She often perches by herself or on one of the nesting boxes. Hope the other girls aren't too jealous she was out of the coop on a warm date with him.

Roscoe has frostbite on his comb and wattles. I hated to see it so when his wattles swelled today I brought him in for a day in the house and to apply ointment. He didn't seem to be in pain, but it hurts me to see the damage from the extreme cold. He attacks my elderly neighbor lady when she...

Brad, if there's a chicken train from your area to somewhere near Indy, I'd love to give my Fluffy Diva some friends her own size. Doesn't matter whether roo or hen, fully toed or not, and shape of comb. Anyone forming a train from your home to this area? Your new chicks are knock-dead gorgeous...

    Egg-eating

I've tried the egg filled with mustard. Thought it would help me identify the egg eater by having yellow on their face. The entire egg disappeared with no trace of yellow on faces and none in the nesting box, but as far as I can tell the egg eating has stopped. I keep oyster shell in the coop...
