I am a 70 year old retiree who used to love to garden (too strenuous now!!). I grow butterfly friendly flowers and milkweed to collect and raise Monarch butterflies from eggs for release in the fall for their trip south And now, I have decided to raise chickens for their eggs. My original plan for a coop size was 4x6... for 6 chickens. Well now I currently have 3 (did have 4 but one died last night) and will be picking up 6 more from a hatchery on the 27th. Coop size plans have now increased to 4x10. So, chicken math, you know!! If anyone thinks the new coop size is too small, please let me know. The total number of chickens will be 2 bantams and 7 larger size chickens (Orpingtons, Big Blue Giants, etc.)
