Thanks for the info. Not culling as it seems I have pairings of all the wyandottes that I wanted. I had planned on hatching some eggs in the future to try and get what I wanted for breeding pure colors or mixing for lacing. So if all these guys want to live together great. I've heard that if...
Got my birds from a somewhat local breeder,1.5 hrs away, who delivers through our area to surrounding counties. When I ordered our chicks I stated all hens except for 1 gold laced Wyandotte to be a rooster. He replied through messenger ok and we met up. One blue laced wyandotte had a curled foot...
They seem to be ok. I think it's just a little different chirping for the breed. No more blowing or anything. Might of been dusty conditions. He was delivering 200 chicks to Missouri and we met him in town which we were going to anyway in our bimonthly supply/grocery run. He had been on the road...
Got three baby chicks today. From a local breeder. Two were jubilee orpingtons and one a blue laced red wyandotte. The two orpingtons when they chirp, it sounds like there's some light mucus in their nose or possibly the throat/chest maybe. It's not real bad but noticable. Saw some blowing off...
Got them on April 10th. Some were only a couple days old and some were about a week old. Got them from a localish breeder about an hour and a half away. I didn't ask but I don't believe he vaccinates. Feeding medicated feed of course. I just wasn't sure how important it was. They all seem fine...
As far as I know my chicks have not been vaccinated for Marek's disease. How important is that and can I get the vaccine myself and do that? I vaccinate my dogs myself yearly, except for the rabies which the vet does.
Thanks for the info. You confirmed what I had gleaned from others as far as the Wyandotte mixing. Good to know about the orpingtons. Planned on possibly crossing the orpingtons with my Wyandotte rooster for eating chickens down the line since the get so big. Separate coop and run, and no naming...
We're starting our flock with 2 silver laced Wyandotte females, 2 blue laced red Wyandotte females, 1 splash laced red Wyandotte, 2 gold laced Wyandottes (1 female, 1male), and 2 jubilee orpingtons. Want to breed them. Thinking wyandottes and orpingtons. Wondered if any of the mottling might get...
Going to find out this year about chickens and the local deer, but I suspected or affect them little. As far as cows and the pasture are concerned, there's a pasture 150 ft from my front door. I've shot a few deer right there. The deer don't hang out with the cattle ever, but they don't mind...

This eye-catching beauty was hatched about 2 weeks ago by a local Arkansas breeder. Blue is now residing with us at the Yolkshire Asylum for the Shell Shocked, Scrambled, Baked, & Fried. A blue laced red wyandotte, she hopes to find comfort in the Ozarks and purpose at the Asylum.
Made a boot with vet tape material and stiff paper. Walking flat footed and seemingly pain free with it on. So I'm feeling positive. All the toes seemed fine, just not stretched out quite enough to stay open. Thanks for the info guys. Going to check out the link to Bernadette and the vitamin...
