Hi there, I have this little baby. Dad is a white silkie, mum (I believe) is a silkie cross Japanese bantam. What would you call the colouring etc. I also did a feather dna for gender. Any guesses on whether it is male or female? Chick is almost 7 weeks old

Thank you for your response, baby does not have any extra toes. The silkie rooster we have does have the extra toes if that helps.

Hi, this little darling hatched today. Possible fathers are a polish or a silky. Mum is a pure polish. Is this chick a polish? Any ideas on gender? All replies are much appreciated x

Thank you again for sharing your knowledge, I am learning a lot from you. The Japanese have light legs so if my chick is a male then his mum is the polish hen. So interesting.

Thank you for your response. It’s given me some great information. So far baby has no wattles and the comb is turning a dark mulberry colour on top? Either way, I will love this little baby because I have raised it from a week old and it is just the sweetest little thing, follows me everywhere...

Thank you Nat. The baby has a silkie dad and either a Japanese bantam mum or a polish mum, I’m not sure. Is there any other things to look for that may indicate a rooster?
