    Daytime predator

We are giving up free ranging unless we are outside in the late afternoon. We put up an electric net fence, but haven't electrified it yet. We added on a large run, using dog kennel panels & small square fence panels for the roof & I'm growing leftover parakeet seed in sections & moving...

Muscovy female normal eyes or problem

She's adorable! I got her a friend duckling when she was little from the feed store so she's not alone. It's really cute. They seem to like each other. So far the other duck seems to be a girl too. They did the needle on a string test. So far so good. I'm relieved!

    muscovy sexing?

I moved her to a side pen to our peafowl flight cage, they haven't used it & prefer another one. But now it's getting cooler, I have planned initially a 20x15 partial covered area with a duck house & repurposing a plastic livestock trough that is too small for them. Covered of course because we...

Muscovy female normal eyes or problem

I don't know if this is normal in a young female. She started getting the bumpy skin around her beak. I know females get it around their eyes too. I just wondered if this is normal looking or if I should give an antibiotic. She's in a temporary pen until we get a cold front to build her a good...

    Daytime predator

So we got a picture of a bobcat on a camera walking about 10 feet from our coop. But over the last month or so we have lost way too many chickens. I have larger chicken breeds too. I thought it was coon population out of control, but we have taken care of all of them & a couple possums that we...

    White lump on chicken head

I don't know if it helps, she's about 4 years old & vaccinated. No one else has it. She's acting normal. We are in a drought, over 100 degrees. She free ranges, in a large run & coop at night with hemp mulch. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Need help sexing Muscovys please

Mom said there are various ducks that have passed thru from time to time. There use to be some domesticated mallard looking ducks. Some Mexican ducks are usually out there & Egyptian geese pass thru but hasn't seen them in awhile.

    Need help sexing Muscovys please

Tx near Galveston. There's so many great ideas on here. I saw ones talking about a filter for the pond. I remembered the filter stuff I had stored. Thought I'd try it & I had an unused box of MarinePure Spheres they remove nitrates & Ammonia, they feel like Lava rock. That will be great to have...

    Need help sexing Muscovys please

It is possible. I'll ask mom what other ducks are at the lake. It was found alone on a golf course by the grounds keeper with a puncture wound. It was very small then & he took care of it & healed. He asked my mom if she would take it since she feeds the ducks, he was afraid it would get injured...

I don't know how old it is, I adopted it. Is it old enough to tell if it's a male or female? Thanks for your help!

    muscovy sexing?

I was asked to adopt a muscovy duckling that was found when it was very young. A hawk dropped it and the people didn't have a place for it & didn't want to just release it. I have no idea how old it is, but is it too early to tell if it's a male or female? I was hoping to find out before I build...

    Worming

I have never wormed our chickens, but I think I need too. We use valbazen on the cows, so I was going to use that in their water. I put food grade DE out regularly in their dust bath. Do I discard the eggs after I worm them? If so, how long? Thanks
