Sooooo I understand losing chickens happens... but ever hear the saying once is an accident, two is a coincidence, three is a pattern?
I had TWO poultry deaths in flock of about 70 this week. I mysteriously found a pullet dead who was nearly laying. She was dead inside the coop... no blood, no...
Has anyone crossed a Bresse and a Delaware? I want PICTURES!!!!
My Bresse are quite young still and I have a Delaware rooster who I'm over the moon for... he's HUGE, he doesn't mind hanging out with chicks or teens, he keeps order, AND he's just HUGE. He's gonna make me some nice meaty...
@TudyBOT
What are the chances if I hatch chocolate color eggs that the chicks will then lay eggs of the same color? I don't know the parentage of the rooster. The hens are probably Copper Marans.
OKKKKK... let's get this party started! My local farm sells mixed colors eggs, and since I'm a little experimental, I decided to hatch some of said eggs.
Some of the eggs are a DARK brown (o Lala!) and I happen to know the person breeds Copper Marans (also o Lala!).
What are the chances I'll...
Sooo I have a full-grown Delwares (don't be jealous, it's only 3 :plbb) and I'm gonna use them for breeding out some meat birds. They are NOT good lawyers, which I already knew. To get them laying better, should I give them meat bird feed or layer feed? Right now I have them on layer feed, but...
I do have her separated. The Silkie hasn't laid a single egg, so I'm gonna put my two Inept Chickens together and see if I can fix this with some extra feed, some quarantine time, and some extra calcium!
Soooo I bought two "two-year old" hens at 10 bucks a pop. Now, two weeks later, I've not had a single egg. The Silkie has not laid a SINGLE egg. And my Leghorn EATS hers. I've tried adding balls and more balls and fake eggs. They also came with scaly leg mites, which has been such a joy... :rant...
Soooo I have this huuuuuge booty butt rooster, a Delaware. What would happen if I crossed him with a Leghorn? They chicks SHOULD be seeable.
Would I get some kinda nice dual purpose bird?
I'd also like to try a Delaware x Bresse. Anyone tried that?
