    Easter Egger club!

Our EE "pullet" crowed today. We'd been suspicious for weeks so it wasn't a total surprise. His three sisters are extremely friendly and will jump on our laps and he is terrified of everything and wants nothing to do with us. But, he is picking fights with the older ladies so 🤞 that he doesn't...

Thank you for the confirmation. I'll report back after the first crow. Wish us luck that he behaves because we are not supposed to have roosters in our neighborhood 😱😳

    Easter egger cockerel

Hi all, one of our pullets is not looking like the other and I fear she may be a he. 10 weeks old and some tail feathers are pointed. No hackle or saddle feathers, no crowing but dominant and picking fights although super dramatic and scared of humans. Thoughts?

Update on Frost, the freeloader: she laid her first egg today! She started squatting a couple of days ago and voila, today the egg came. It's big and beautiful! For size and color comparison, our other EE Feathers' egg from today is on the right And no, we did not switch to a higher protein...

    Easter Egger club!

Thank you for the suggestions. I will do some research on this. I'm concerned about the rest of the girls, an EE, a buff Orpington, a GLW, and a Cuckoo Maran. They are all laying as much as they should. I forgot to add that they do of course get free choice oyster shells and grit although they...

    Easter Egger club!

Yeah, that was my plan as well but my husband can't sell anything at his work because it's not allowed. We started giving them away and it works for us because we only have 5 chickens. They don't eat much.

    Easter Egger club!

Haha, yeah, good and healthy snacks! We got our girls mainly because our daughter really wanted to raise chickens once. The eggs are just a nice side effect of that ;-)

She's a beauty! Frost's comb is bright red as well now, the picture is from last fall. She looks the part, just won't do it. Haha

    Easter Egger club!

That's a ton of eggs! We get between 1 and 4 a day out of 5 chickens and that's too many eggs for us. So we give them away.

It's an organic layer pellet. Can't remember the brand. All the other hens, one of them also an EE, lay regularly and their eggs are huge. Our girls also get to forage throughout the day and are supplemented with organic scratch, meal worms, occasionally oatmeal, and fruits and veggies. I doubt...

    Easter Egger club!

Yes. Same size as the other EE, no spurs, saddle feathers, etc. Doesn't crow. Looks and acts like the other hens just doesn't lay eggs.

    Easter Egger club!

This is Frost. Frost is almost 10 months old and has not laid an egg yet. She does not show any interest in the nesting boxes or anything that has to do with eggs. She also never squats. Anyone else have a chicken that appears to be a permanent freeeloader?? We love her dearly and will gladly...
