Congratulations on your victory! I read in August that they now allow backyard flocks. I love in deltona and will be starting a flock here soon after we buy a home in the spring.
Hi there! I’m also in Deltona. We will be buying in the area this spring. Do you mind sharing your coop set up? I wanted to see what it looks like since there are rules for it :)
My friend is getting a divorce and they had chicks and ducklings, between drowning and a dog attack she only had a white leghorn pullet and a duckling left. I said I would take them. This poor 9 week old leghorn is smaller than my 5 week orpingtons and EE's, plus she had some feathers taken from...
The size just doesn't make sense unless she had the eggs sitting out in warmer temps you know? :( that stinks. I hope none of my others have started and then quit and are just too early to tell. That's kind of upsetting :(
No, no veining either :( it's really wierd. When they quit all the veins usually are hard to see BUT there's always a blood ring. There was no blood ring either. I could take a picture. But out of 22 eggs that's the only one that had that.
I bough 20 lavender orp hatching eggs and had them shipped here. They were in transit only two days and I had them shipped WITHOUT a heat pack because it was warmer this week. So the eggs look like they didn't have the easiest ride so I let them set a day and to see if the air sacs had come into...
Chicken math update: my hatch went incredibly! I'm up to 26 now lol. My only lavender orpington was born early this morning but my lemon cuckoo Orpingtons ALL hatched lol. Here are a couple pictures of the cuteness :)
It did work out. She pipped and stayed in the same place with no progression for 22 hours. I was really getting worried! But she started up and within 2 hours she was born! I had 12 eggs and so far 10 have hatched! For shipped eggs that's pretty awesome!!!
I'm sorry for all the threads! My babies are starting to pip and I'm anxious lol. So I had an egg pip yesterday. She hasn't made any progress since the initial pip (18hours or so now)so carefully I took a chip of the shell back and she hasn't punctured the membrane but she has gone through her...
Now I have that second egg stuck in the same spot. She's through her air cell but not through the membrane. Oye this is too stressful. It's been 16 hours since she pipped.
