Thank you all for the advice about broody hens. I wrote my post to just to vent a little about the craziness of my birds this year with everyone wanting to be a mama.

Let me set the stage... I have a hen and for lack of a better word she's a b***h. I thought Buff Orpingtons were supposed to be nice but I digress... Well I got behind collecting eggs a few weeks ago and low and behold this hell hen has taken up residence in a nesting box packed with about 15...

Came home to some over achievers. I hope this isn't a silly question but do you absolutely have to take the egg turner out of the incubator. This is my first time using this model and the hubby wanted to keep it in to keep the chicks from knocking each other over but I'm on the fence.

I'm super late to this but I'm in lockdown with my eggs. Finally talked the hubby into a Nature Right 360 to incubate the eggs this time. Im hatching Bielefelders and hopefully a few Biele/55 Flower Hen crosses. Here is "Biele Bob" and his ladies can't wait to see the babies.

This is my cockerel "Biele Bob" he's roughly 19 weeks old now and so far seems to be a good boy. How does he fit to the SOP? Then I have Harmony and Starla and who are both 23 weeks old. Harmony is the lighter breasted of the two and is my talker whenever I spend time in their pen.

Thank you so much! That makes a lot of sense. I don't know a lot about the genetics in birds but I want to learn more. Is it normal for the chick to be displaying such a large dark pink comb at roughly 6 weeks old?
