nest box?

I am thinking about nest boxes fro my tractor. I have a kitty litter box kinda like this onehttp://www.petsmart.com/global/prod...23021261&itemNo=3&Nao=0&In=Cat&N=2033737&Ne=2
I thought might work, but I'm wondering about the heat in the height of summer here. Can I just leave the lid off?

I have used them before and they work great. The hens would probably still lay in it with the top of, or you could drill some holes in the sides to increase ventilation.

Well, I would think so but others may have a better idea. My RIR are using shoe boxes hat boots come in for now. And they have not complained.

That should work just fine. You can leave the lid off. I've always just made boxes for them to lay in. Just keep plenty of soft shavings in the nest.
