Change of plans

Pics
Thank you! I'm tired of all this rain! Got a dr's appointment this morning, then doing projects around the house. I'll get some pics of the chicks😊
I hear ya there, the wife is trying to setup a garage sale but everything is tarped and canopied with every other day rain happening. Now the forecast is calling for 8 rain days in a row coming next week ish. Too far out to forecast but still...ugh.

Looking forward to seeing your chickies.. I need to start a thread of my own with all these babies I got in my double broody forecast. 🥴

Not the best pics, but here are the ameraucanas and the 1 wheaten Marans. It turned out the yellow down was not an indicator of sex. They are 6 weeks old, the cockerel is plain as day now with his more prominent lavender and darker cream color around the neck and throughout, the rest are pullets.

Thank you for updating about whether the color was an indicator of sex.

I hope you wanted a bunch of pullets, since that is what you got!

I'm not complaining at all, lol, I'm only keeping the cockerel, 2 Isabel pullets, 1 wheaten, and the wheaten Marans. So far this year I have had insanely good luck with my cockerel/pullet ratio, knock on wood, lol

Felicity (lavender English Orpington) has been broody for her first time for the past 15 days, she had been diligent and never once switched nests, so I ordered her 8 blue star pullets from ideal. They arrived yesterday in great condition with 2 extras (I think their blue cuckoo marans) I got them warm, gave them a little food and water, then gave them to her last night. Checked this morning, and she is happy as can be clucking away. Touchdown!

It's amazing how well the ameraucana chicks fit in with my flock! My flock is always good about integration, but these chicks are able to mingle with the bigs without any problems.
