Good luck @Sueby Will be thinking about you.
Nothing in the garden, it is covered in snow. I will now enjoy all of you that can garden over winter and your stories for a few months
The only thing I bought this weekend was actually today and it was my seed order for spring ;) I finally used my seeds from 3-4 years back up this summer so time to restock. Got a good deal, everything was $1.70/packet through MIGardeners
here is a secret for today......i hate cooking, especially for the holidays, and wish I could just spend the day in the garden (though snow covered I would do it) or out with the chickens, lol.
going to make a freeze dried food order, black friday sales, and then going to place a seed order...
I am starting to plan out gardens for next year. I will then make a seed order, I hope in the next few weeks so that I can get what I need with hopefully still decent prices. And then in Jan I will pre-order some fruit trees and such. I am also seriously looking at greenhouse plans for spring...
What did you cover them with? If you used plastic, it is possible they will get condensation on the inside that will drip and help with moisture. I would think if it was in the high 40s and 50s, you could uncover but otherwise I wouldn't. I have carrots and lettuces under plastic tunnels now and...
Today brings the snow, so no work in the garden for me. Covered tunnels still have carrots in ground and seek to be doing well. I am on the fence if I should keep watering or not, I mean I don't want them to freeze but don't want them to dry out either.
Feeling cold here, with windchill feel like it is 17F. Gonna leave the carrots for a few days, hope they sweeten a bit and then pull.
I am ordering trees for next spring, some sort of fruit. Anyone have any suggestions for a pear type for zone 4b?
Not much in the gardens, tightened up the plastic on the garden boxes as it has been sooooo windy.
We lost a tree 2 days ago from the wind, cutting it up today.
Rain the next two days, lots of rain. 60s and humid today and then we move into the 30s tomorrow afternoon and then highs in the...
Morning! Cold and rainy here today. Looks like we will have 50s/60s for the next few days and then by Friday we are at highs in the 20s for as far out as they are predicting.
I put up plastic on 2 of my raised garden beds on the deck this fall to see how long into the winter I can keep things...
Happy Halloween!!!
Nothing in the garden yesterday as they are all sleeping for the winter. Ah winter, temps in the 60s the last few days and then up into the 70s this week! What?!?! And then it looks like 40s next week? Crazy yo-yo weather.
I spent yesterday hanging out with some new chicks.
