Put kids to work hunting green beans, okra, cucumbers, cantaloupe and they crawled around to get it ALL! They are spoiling my chickens with treats. I'm letting them. Poor kids probably just lost everything. The chicks will be ok.
Just popping in to say hi. Started prepping for guests last week. Got 11 people and three pets sheltering from the hurricane here. Just grateful they are all safe. Everything else is replaceable ephemera.
Rained here today, more than I thought it would. Probably more on the way, but no bad...
I've had hornworms so big you could break them to harness or saddle! First two, my chicks just looked at them like they were wondering what breed the new additions to the flock were! :lau
I got all the ripe, and a lot of green tomatoes and am cutting out the spent vines. Between bugs and...
I harvested okra, cut down some spent tomato vines, watered, planted some fresh starts for fall. Got a little dark here, like a big cloud bank passing over. The chickens got a bit quiet, but nothing really much noticed with the eclipse. About 75% or so here?
Yes, we had two Oscars, both found homes. Big guys, about 8-10" long, brought in because the college student was moving and had no way to keep them.
@chickmom3941 Im not that into the eclipse thing either. Not my first one, and iirc I'll be seeing one much more complete where I live in about 4...
Down day for me today. I watered. Spent all day yesterday at local animal shelter helping out with "Clear the Shelter Day". It was really great, but really tiring. Concrete floor all day wasn't kind to my joints. But sooo worth it! :wootWe placed over 200 animals, though I haven't seen the...
About rooting broken fruit tree branches; most fruit trees are grafted. The fruit bearing variety is grafted onto a variety with superior disease and rooting characteristics, often more adapted to growing in a specific area. So if you get a sucker, whip or a branch to root and grow, it might...
And just ran out again. HE was at his desk and saw a baby possum literally trying to come in the back patio door! Still daylight, storm coming in, possum about 6 inches long not counting tail. Death by snake shovel. Bleached the patio. Now waiting to see if Momma, comes around. HE talking crap...
Came in after working hard before the storms hit. Lots of little but necessary chores. Looks like we are about to get pounded. Guess I'll be indoors for a bit, working on finishing grow room.
Absolutely positively excruciatingly freaking adorable! That's how they get a chance to survive, by being adorable. Them and pug puppies. No reason to let them live, but they are too cute to kill. Incidentally, that's how I got my first bunny. Dad mowed over a nest, and I had a new pet. Even...
Break interrupted by a possum walking the electric high line along my back fence. Dead possum if he comes down here. IMG_9989 by NorthTexasWink posted Aug 17, 2017 at 5:28 PM
Big BIG thunder boomers popping up here. Sun and then CRASH and a deluge for a few minutes, then sun again. Crazy weather that leaves me feeling unsettled. I think my old west Texas weather feelers are getting messed with. Nearly jumped out of my skin a minute ago when HE started the shop vac in...
