My spring onion and basil seeds are beginning to poke through the soil.
Nothing from the peas yet. I'm not sure if they'll actually end up germinating- the seeds were likely expired.
I transplanted my lettuce seedlings this morning into a plug tray. Perhaps I should have waited a few more days, but oh well. Hoping I didn't break any stems, because majority of them were still really tiny.
Does anyone have any advice on how to stop seedlings from getting leggy? The lettuce was...
Just sowed some pea seeds (and, in a different pot, a couple of romaine seeds):
I can't wait for the first harvest of the year in a few months time! :celebrate
Hey y'all, it's been a while since I posted in this thread. Spring's finally starting to make a (minor) comeback here, and it sure is about time.
Just picked up some onion seeds from the store yesterday. Seeing all the garden supplies gives me hope for the warm weather. I plan to start sowing...
I've been sort of neglecting my garden (I've got a whole bunch of tomatoes to pick, and I don't even know when the last time was that I watered my plants (it rained fairly recently, but I should probably pull up all or some of the plants soon)), so I haven't really checked on my plants in a...
Yesterday's harvest. :eek:I'm SO happy with the size of the zucchinis! If anyone has any ideas what to make with them, I'm open to suggestions. I found the cucumber hanging behind the plant, so, pro tip, check your cucumber plants often! The tomato harvest was throughout a couple of days, but...
Got a pretty big harvest today... lots of tomatoes. I had two carrots and a strawberry, but I ate them already . Planning on making a little salad with the tomatoes- I also harvested some basil, so I'll use that. I find that the basil I planted from seed is much healthier than the...
Well, it was raining pretty hard, but it just stopped. Not sure if I'm going to do anything in the garden today. Maybe I'll be able to harvest a bit, but I'm not sure.
Nice plants... I'm jealous of the strawberries. The squirrels I have here keep eating them. :barnie
Here's the recipe I followed, if you're interested. I just used normal water with the batter, and it turned out fine.
Fair warning, oil can get pretty hot, so....
Here is today's harvest. I'm pretty sure all my romaine lettuce has or at least is beginning to bolt. I also found another ripe-looking cucumber which is awesome! Also harvested my first zucchini- it tasted pretty good!
Here are the zucchini flowers after being prepared and cooked:
Yup, I dip them in a batter of flour, egg, salt, and water, put them in a pan of hot oil until they're cooked, and they're done. :)
Pretty simple, and they taste pretty good. There's a lot of good recipes, if you're interested.
Does anyone know if this cucumber is ready to pick? It's an English long. I was planning on waiting another day because it still looks kind of wrinkly, but I'm not sure.
